Terms of Service

Last updated September 22, 2026

Who we are

The Kindness Post is run by Letters from Kate, a small business owned by Kathryn Bates in Olympia, Washington (“we”, “us”). By subscribing at lettersfromkate.com you agree to these terms.

What you get

A printed letter mailed once a month to the US address you give us. Letters go out by US mail, so delivery times depend on the Postal Service. We only mail to addresses in the United States.

Automatic renewal

Every plan is a subscription that renews automatically until you cancel. We charge the card you used at checkout at the start of each billing period:

  • Monthly: $3.99 every month
  • 6 Months: $21.99 every 6 months
  • Yearly: $42.99 every year

Stripe emails you a receipt for every charge. If we ever change prices, we’ll email you at least 30 days before the new price applies, and you can cancel before then.

Gift subscriptions

A gift is a subscription on the buyer’s card. It renews automatically like any other plan, and the buyer is charged at each renewal. If you only want to give one period, cancel any time before the renewal date. The recipient keeps getting letters for the time you’ve already paid for.

How to cancel

Cancel online anytime at lettersfromkate.com/manage. Enter your email, and we’ll send a link to your account where you can cancel in a couple of clicks. You can also email friendshipposts@yahoo.com and we’ll cancel it for you.

Cancelling stops all future charges. Your subscription stays active, and letters keep coming, until the end of the period you’ve already paid for.

Refunds

We don’t give partial refunds for the unused part of a billing period once it has started. But if something isn’t right, whether you were charged when you didn’t mean to be or a letter didn’t turn up, email friendshipposts@yahoo.comand we’ll make it right. That may mean a refund or re-mailing the letter.

Approved refunds go back to the original card and usually show up within 5–10 business days.

Your address

Please keep your mailing address up to date. You can email us any changes. We can’t re-send letters that went to an old or wrong address you gave us, but we’ll always try to help.

The letters

The letters and everything on this site are our original work. You are welcome to keep, share and pass along the letters you receive, but please don’t republish them or sell copies.

Limits

We do our best to mail every letter on time, but we can’t control the Postal Service. To the extent the law allows, our total responsibility to you for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Changes and governing law

We may update these terms. If a change matters to your subscription, we’ll email you before it takes effect. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington.
